We are looking for a PLC Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Operations team based at CFC2 Dordon. Our Customer Fulfilment Centre runs 24/7, and your expertise in PLC systems and automation will ensure that our facility operates at peak performance. You will work shift patterns to support continuous operations, benefiting from a competitive salary and shift premiums.
About the role:
Undertake day-to-day reactive and planned engineering activities and improvement works at the CFC Dordon.
Provide front-line support for PLC code-related issues to ensure quick investigation and resolution within live operational systems.
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other support teams to optimise availability and performance of the facility and its MHE automation.
Diagnose faults in PLC systems and equipment using diagnostic tools (Profibus, Can Bus, Bar Code Readers, etc.) and apply temporary or permanent code fixes.
Monitor, tune, and upgrade PLC code (Siemens S7 300/400 and TIA) and support SCADA and Siemens HMI systems.
Support the go-live and ramp-up of new production PLC systems or future projects.
Carry out planned maintenance safely and accurately, keeping detailed records of tasks and parts used.
Analyse data to find solutions that improve MHE performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Coach and support engineering team members to enhance their diagnostic skills and knowledge transfer.
Work 12-hour shifts averaging 42 hours per week, including weekdays, weekends, days, and nights.
You will receive 264 hours of holiday, equating to 22 days per year.
About you:
Experience as an engineer within automated MHE systems, ideally in a warehouse, distribution, production, or FMCG environment.
Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in automation hardware and software.
Formal qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering (NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent).
Good understanding of PLC control systems, AC/DC motor controls, and industrial bus networks (Profibus, ASi).
Experience with Siemens S7 PLCs, SCADA, Siemens HMI, and control system communication protocols such as WCS and WMS.
Skilled in online PLC code monitoring, modification, and development.
Strong analytical skills and a customer-focused problem solver who works effectively under time-critical conditions.
Fully computer literate with good communication, organisation, and planning abilities.
A proactive team player with a thirst for knowledge who can share expertise and support colleagues.
Ability to work safely and promote high health & safety standards.
