Job Introduction
An interim opportunity is available for a Programme Management Office (PMO) Programme Planner based in the Future Capability Team in Bristol or Castle Donington for 12 months, subject to review.
Reporting to the Future Capability Programme Lead, you will have a crucial role in the strategic planning and prioritisation of research, development and roll out programmes within National Grid Electricity Distribution. You will work closely with the team and other stakeholders to:
Support activities to ensure work programmes are effectively prioritised and sequenced to deliver benefit and commitments
Assure that individual projects are being governed acceptably
Report on project and roadmap performance
As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. This is a full-time role, but flexibility in working pattern may be considered. Occasional Travel may be needed to other locations.
Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
Main Responsibilities
Gather, consolidate and continuously update the status and forecast benefits of the whole portfolio of projects and initiatives within the scope of the Future Capability team.
Assist Future Capability Programme leads in defining project resourcing strategy, working closely with Programme Leads to optimise resource allocation across various projects and teams in alignment with business priorities.
Maintain the suite of tools required to track and report of projects and roadmaps (financial, deliverables, benefit, risks and timelines etc.)
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across the Future Capability team and internal stakeholders ensuring alignment on project priorities, timelines, and resource requirements.
Collaborate with peers to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within Future Capability projects and programme planning processes, implementing best practices to enhance overall programme delivery.
Responsibility for providing information on our activities and performance for internal and external reports and publicity, both scheduled and ad hoc.
Responsibility for maintaining innovation related responses to regulatory reporting such as Regulatory Reporting Pack (RRP) and Innovation Measurement Framework (IMF)
Capital forecasting, Delivery of the Year end finances process.
Quality assurance of project development and delivery process and leading the approvals process including sanctions and finance
Assurance that all Future Capability projects and programmes are following governance
Assist in the compilation and maintenance of governance and tools required to track and assure performance.
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful you will have proven experience in a programme planning or project management role within the utilities or energy sector, ideally within a capital projects department and within electricity distribution. You'll have strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather, analyse and interpret data to support decision making. You'll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. management skills and be able to communicate effectively with range of colleagues of differing seniority.
A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Operations, Economics, Business administration or equivalent level of education is preferred but not essential as equal weighting will be given to equivalent experience..
You'll have a proficiency in Project Management tools and software (e.g.. Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
