An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Point of Care Testing Coordinator to lead a small team supporting Point of Care Testing across all sites of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an interesting and challenging position leading a small dedicated team delivering support for POCT to most clinical areas across the Trust.
The successful candidate must be flexible and able to travel to different sites across the Trust as needed.
You will work closely with suppliers and managers and staff at all levels across the Trust and have knowledge and understanding of ISO standards and UKAS accreditation.

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period. This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
The successful candidate must be an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a keen interest in Point of Care Testing, experience of leading a team, and demonstrable training skills.
This is a challenging post that requires an ability to multitask and excellent communication and IT skills.
Although supported by a Consultant Clinical Scientist and Technical Services Manager from the Biochemistry department, you will have a high degree of autonomy in your day to day work and must be able to manage your workload to ensure that key performance indicators are met and reports delivered on time.
The POCT service at UHMBT is delivered via a POCT managed service contract with Radiometer. A variety of analysers are in use in the Trust delivering the wide repertoire of test results required for acute clinical care.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
