This is a vital police staff role within our neighbourhood policing team; you will spend time working with the communities of Dyfed Powys Police, building relationships, breaking down barriers and solving problems.

There is no typical day as a PCSO, and each day brings new challenges but ultimately everything you do will improve the lives of our communities. As a Dyfed Powys PCSO you could:

Work to help communities build and thrive. Build links and relationships with communities - whether that's businesses, residents, community leaders or partner agencies. Help build and maintain relationships with our diverse communities and young people Be a visible presence within the community, carrying out high visibility patrols to reassure people. Respond to a range of incidents, including anti-social behaviour, neighbour disputes, abandoned vehicles, and assisting with missing person enquiries. Take a problem-solving approach to long term issues in the community, working with partners and the community to help resolve them. Help reassure and support victims of crime, offering crime prevention advice to help keep them safe. Help with policing large events, gatherings, festivals, and shows Use the powers designated to you to help tackle anti-social behaviour and crime in your community. Collect CCTV evidence and carry out house to house enquiries to help our investigations. Act as a professional witness, attending court when required.

Salary: Starting from 27,747 and rising to 29,649 (this does not include any allowances which are applicable when working shifts and weekends, following the initial training period)

Please note our current vacancies are anticipated to be primarily in Ceredigion and Powys. We will post to where our vacancies are and therefore, we may prioritise applications from those areas as required.

Full training and support is provided for this role, which includes an initial training programme with an exciting timetable of courses followed by an 8 week tutorship period on division.

Application guidance

You will be invited to compete the national sift as part of the process. Please note this needs to be completed within 7 days of your invitation or by the closing time/date of the advert whichever is the soonest.

Please be mindful that if you fail the National sift online test, you are ineligible to complete it again within the next 3 months, and you can only complete it twice in a 12-month period. This applies for any other uniformed recruitment (Police Officer, PCSO and Volunteer Police Officer/Special Constable).

The online tests are not compatible with handheld devices e.g. tablet or mobile phone so must be completed on a desktop/Laptop computer. If you have any technical issues whilst completing the tests, then the decision to reset the test will be at the discretion of Dyfed Powys Police. If applicable, applicants must upload the required evidence of their level 2 English and Maths qualifications when applying, as no late evidence will be accepted. If you are not in possession of a valid certificate, you must obtain one prior to the closing date, or alternatively you can complete the online verbal reasoning and calculation test. Successful candidates are subject to vetting and medical checks, and all prospective PCSOs will be required to have their fingerprints and a DNA sample taken.

Interviews will be held at Police Headquarters in Carmarthen on

16th, 17th and 18th June 2025.

If successful at interview, you may be invited to attend fitness, biometric and drug testing at Police Headquarters in Carmarthen on
