Hours:

37 hours per week. Varying shift pattern depending upon location. Evening and weekend working included and will attract allowances as appropriate





Part time/flexible working options will be considered




Salary range:

Grade A1 23,817 rising to a maximum of 26,016 per annum




Based at:

Either Oxclose Lane or Mansfield Police Station within Public Protection




Main Purpose of Role







As a PIP1 Investigator, you will gather and review evidence and undertake investigations relating to domestic abuse, this role will work within the High Risk Domestic Abuse teams. You will be accountable for delivery of a high standard service which is victim focused and tailored to meet the needs of the organisation. This will include the obtaining of victim and witness evidence, physical evidence and the obtaining of a suspects account. This will then be presented and reviewed by an Evidential Review Officer, or Crown Prosecution Service regarding the evidential test to recommend charges.



Some of the principle accountabilities include;



Investigate crime and other incidents; complete investigation plans and strategies as directed by supervisors; prioritise lines of enquiry to maximise the gathering of material by securing and preserving evidence. This could include all areas of crime including safeguarding, domestic abuse, hate and cyber. Interview victims and witnesses, ensuring compliance with the Victims Charter, identifying when victims are significant or vulnerable and referring to relevant departments. Interview suspects in accordance with PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act) Code C and E. This will include the exercise of designated powers under the Police Reform Act (including search and seizure, further arrest) if applicable. Gather, develop and use intelligence effectively utilising force IT systems to enhance investigations and inform other departments/line management of identified risks and safeguarding concerns Attend Court as the Officer in the Case and to give evidence



Key Skills & abilities








Experience of gathering and analysing information and/or data from third parties (researching, interviewing).



Experience of problem solving and decision making with an ability to critically analyse material



Experience of working in customer focused, or investigatory role requiring engaging effectively with people at all levels, this will include working with survivors and suspects. Be able to produce accurate written documents



Experience of working in confrontation or sensitive situations.



Possess a sound knowledge of IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to effectively use Force IT systems following training





Demonstrate the ability to lead by example, encouraging others and to act in line with Fore Values (Proud)





Highly organised and self motivated, ensuring the timely provision of correct, complete and consistent information. Be able to manage a high demanding workload, at times you may work unsupervised and must be able to manage workloads





You must hold a full UK driving licence




Experience Required







To already be PIP1 qualified and signed off your portfolio




Other requirements







Be flexible in your approach to the working hours and be able to undertake evening and weekend working as part of the shift pattern. Be able to work additional hours should operational need dictate in accordance with the Police Staff Handbook



Be able to carry out investigatory duties and gather evidence at a variety of locations including at the home of the member of the public, crime scene or on police premises



Must be willing to participate in Officer Safety training and First Aid if deemed suitable on an individual basis as required by each departmental head



Must be prepared to be subject to Management Vetting, in line with a Force Vetting Policy and to undertake drug screening.

Vetting Level - Management- you must have resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years
