The Policy Impact Unit (PIU) increases the use of world-class research, produced by UCL engineering researchers, in the policymaking process - providing the knowledge, skills and capacity to deliver high quality policy engagement to achieve real-world impact.


About the role


------------------


The PIU are seeking a Policy Adviser to support the new UK Neuromorphic Computing Hardware Semiconductor IKC, which will shape the future of sustainable computing and make the UK a global leader. The successful candidate will lead and deliver policy engagement and impact for the IKC, producing policy outputs such as briefings, communicating (and managing relationships) with policy stakeholders at a national and international level, supporting knowledge exchange events, and translating research for policy audiences. This vacancy is full time between November 2025 and October 2026 with possibility to extend on a part time basis until 2029. The salary is Grade 7 43,374 - 46,261 (including London Allowance) per annum.


About you

The successful applicant should have significant experience working in or with the policy community, an understanding of the policy landscape, and experience engaging and influencing policymakers. They must be able to work within complex environments, manage relationships with stakeholders well, support the delivery of events, and manage their workload / project independently to a high standard. Experience of project management, administration in a complex environment and successfully designing, coordinating and delivering high profile events (both in person and online) is essential.
