Job summary

At Ofgem, we're at the forefront of shaping the cross-border energy markets that power Great Britain's future. We're looking for a Policy Advisor to join us and help shape the future of electricity interconnectors, driving forward secure and efficient energy trading arrangements that are vital to the UK's energy resilience.

Ofgem is Great Britain's independent energy regulator. We're at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.

We're offering a permanent position in a high-performing and collaborative team that provides exceptional exposure to senior stakeholders across government, industry and within Ofgem. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of energy security and regulation, helping shape how our cross-border electricity system evolves and supports a cleaner, more flexible and resilient future.

This role offers the chance to work on both current and emerging regulatory frameworks, from supervising operational interconnectors to shaping the markets that will govern strategic offshore assets of the future. You'll have space to develop deep expertise in a technically complex and high-impact policy area while helping ensure that our energy infrastructure delivers for consumers today and in the long term.

Job description

We're looking for someone with a solid understanding of energy policy and regulation, and the appetite to build technical expertise in a fast-moving and high-profile field. You'll have the confidence to work independently, the communication skills to build and maintain key stakeholder relationships, and the drive to deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.

In return, you'll join a supportive and friendly team that's committed to delivering meaningful outcomes. You'll gain exposure to strategic projects that span the UK and European electricity markets, while developing a policy skillset that will support your long-term career growth. What's more, you'll benefit from generous civil service pension arrangements, flexible working options, and the chance to help build a more sustainable energy future.

We have a critical purpose to shape the regulatory frameworks that govern electricity interconnectors - infrastructure that is essential to securing energy supply, unlocking clean power and integrating Great Britain into wider energy markets. This is your chance to lead the charge on an area of growing national importance.
