We seek to appoint a highly motivated and well-organised individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to lead policy engagement, expand our membership programme, and develop our online platforms (i.e., Britain's World and The Broadside).
The successful applicant will hold a graduate or postgraduate degree and possess a keen interest in strengthening the national power and profile of the United Kingdom, as well as foreign affairs, defence policy and international security more generally;
The Policy and Platforms Officer will be an integral part of our organisation's team. The successful applicant will actively involve themselves in establishing and nurturing policy relations with key stakeholders in the Palace of Westminster and Whitehall - as well as expanding and managing our portfolio of members.
Key responsibilities
Policy engagement:
Promote our work to decision-makers in Parliament and Whitehall;
Develop and nurture policy relationships with parliamentarians and their staff, parliamentary committees, civil servants, foreign embassies, think tanks, and partner organisations;
Follow the work of Parliament and Whitehall, identifying political opportunities and parliamentary processes to disseminate research output and ideas.
Membership expansion:
Work closely with the Directors to roll out a membership platform with exclusive content;
Collaborate with the Operations Officer to manage our portfolio of members, ensuring all membership benefits are delivered to our existing members;
Ensure the membership offering is regularly updated and improved.
Platform development:
Develop and edit our online platforms, including Britain's World and The Broadside*. Undertake other relevant duties related to the role as required.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree (classification of 2.1 or above) and/or a postgraduate degree;
A keen interest in strengthening the national power and profile of the United Kingdom, alongside foreign affairs, international security, and environmental security;
The ability to build long-term, impactful relationships with stakeholders;
Excellent organisational, time-management, and interpersonal skills; a perfect command of written and spoken English with high attention to detail;
Advanced skills in Google Workspace and other key IT applications, such as content management systems (CMS) and social media platforms;
A team worker with a proactive approach and a positive attitude.
