About the Role
This role sits within the FUW Policy Department, which represents members' interests by monitoring agricultural developments, shaping policy, and engaging with governments and key stakeholders. The post focuses on environmental, land use and climate change policy, supporting the development of the Union's strategic objectives and responding to emerging policy issues.
The role involves providing clear and timely policy updates, representing the FUW at meetings and events, supporting Standing Committees (particularly the Land Use & Climate Change Committee), and working closely with colleagues and external bodies. The position offers varied, challenging and rewarding work, with opportunities to influence policy and support Welsh farming families at both a national and local level.
About you:
We're looking for someone with a strong knowledge of Welsh agricultural issues, with excellent communication skills and an empathy for farming in Wales.
Essential:
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, google suite and digital communication tools
To be self-motivated, enthusiastic and take initiative to deliver work to a high standard
The ability to travel across Wales for training, events or meetings
The possession of a car and a full, clean UK driving licence
Desirable:
Welsh language skills (spoken/written) are a strong advantage
Experience in a membership organisation
