Lead on policy and research projects and partnerships for Maximus in the UK. The role will utilise data and expertise from across the business and work with external experts and organisations to develop compelling insight and thought leadership, policy papers and consultation responses to improve service delivery and support our external engagement and business growth.
1. Lead policy function: agree priority activities for each year linked to bid activity, business growth and political cycle, in collaboration with and agreement from senior leadership. Agree budgets for activity, prioritisation of projects, and KPIs
2. Policy formulation: plan, initiate and deliver a number of research projects each year on agreed topics aligned to business growth and salient policy topics, across our sectors including employment support, welfare and assessments, workplace health, justice and local government.
3. Consultation responses: coordinate responses to relevant consultations and policy discussions, working with members of the External Communications team to help shape innovative future policy in core and growth areas for our business and position Maximus as a thought leader.
4. Partnership working: work closely and build relationships with external researchers and academics, delivery partners and global Maximus colleagues as part of the role, to strengthen our policy making capacity and capability, develop projects, improve our visibility among commissioners and stakeholders and raise profile of the Maximus brand and its association with policy development.
5. Publish regular thought leadership through Maximus corporate channels and identify opportunities to publish elsewhere to raise profile.
Qualifications & ExperienceEvidence of delivering qualitative and quantitative policy and research programmes in a prior role
Experience of engaging and working with policy experts, government officials and/or academics
A strong understanding of policy formulation and the workings of government
Degree or equivalent
DesirableEstablished links to academics/academic and research organisations
Individual CompetenciesStrong analytical skills and the ability to utilise and evaluate data
Ability to use research software and tools as required
Strong presentation skills
Work collaboratively, including with senior internal stakeholders and commissioners
Ability to manage multiple projects.
DesirableKnowledge of topics including:
o Welfare
o Employment support
o Public procurement
o Public health
o Justice system
Travel Requirements Occasional travel for meetings or research activity
