About The Role:
Shift pattern:
12 hour shifts, either 07:00-19:00 or 19:00-07:00
As a Port Worker at OCS, your primary responsibility will be to support port operations by securing and releasing vessels within the Port of Dover, as well as operating Link Span equipment to facilitate the safe embarkation and disembarkation of vehicles.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Always work in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
Attend all training sessions as required and identified by your Line Manager.
Familiarise yourself with the company's Health & Safety Policy and all operational procedures issued by management.
Perform all assigned tasks diligently, safely, and to the best of your ability.
Collaborate effectively as part of a team, including the securing and releasing of vessels as directed.
Operate Link Span equipment to facilitate the safe embarkation and disembarkation of vehicles.
Support operational needs by undertaking ad hoc duties as required.
Maintain accurate personal timekeeping records and comply with procedures for signing in/out, clocking, or swiping.
Use and maintain all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) issued by the company, which will be provided free of charge.
Undertake any other reasonable duties that support the objectives of the business.
Review and understand the Safe System of Work prior to commencing any task.
Ensure all vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and fit for purpose.
Promptly report any Health & Safety concerns or breaches in accordance with company procedures.
Monitor radar equipment to track vessel movements and ensure timely response upon arrival.
Carry out any additional tasks as reasonably directed by your Supervisor or Contract Manager.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
Knowledge of Ports preferable but not essential.
Ability to communicate professionally with the public and other members of staff.
Self-motivated and flexible outlook.
Must be physically able to climb ladders and heave mooring lines.
Able to work flexibly including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check.
