General Description

Heathrow Porters play a crucial role in providing essential baggage assistance services to passengers at London Heathrow Airport on behalf of Heathrow Airport Limited. Positioned at key points throughout the terminals, including forecourts and baggage reclaim areas, Porters offer support to passengers and, if necessary, assist the general public with their luggage.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Service Sales & Revenue Generation:

Proactively offer and promote the baggage assistance service to passengers. Operate in a target-driven environment, striving to meet or exceed set productivity goals.

Passenger Assistance:

Departures:

Greet passengers on the terminal forecourt and assist with transporting luggage to the check-in desk using specialised equipment.

Arrivals:

Meet passengers at the baggage carousel and help transport luggage to their onward transport or a waiting greeter. Assist passengers with customs declaration procedures when necessary.

Group Luggage Assistance:

Facilitate the movement of luggage for large groups, such as cruise passengers, from the arrivals hall to their transportation.

Required Skills & Characteristics

Customer Service:

Excellent customer service skills with a positive and professional attitude, ensuring high-quality service in line with Heathrow's service standards.

Sales Ability:

Confident in promoting and driving sales of the baggage assistance service.

Physical Fitness:

Able to lift and transport heavy loads as required.

Appearance & Professionalism:

Maintain a smart and professional appearance at all times, adhering to the uniform policy (uniform provided).

Teamwork & Initiative:

Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

Availability to work shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Familiarity with the airport environment and security procedures is a plus but not essential.

Language:

Proficiency in English is required.

Qualifications & Documentation

Right to Work:

Must hold a valid passport and relevant right-to-work documentation.

Proof of National Insurance (NI) Number:

Provide proof, such as an NI card, P45, or P60.

Security Clearance:

Must have a five-year checkable history with no unspent criminal convictions.
