About The Role:
As a Portering Supervisor at Sussex Estates and Facilities, you'll lead a team of academic porters to deliver high-quality customer service and essential facilities support across the University. This hands-on role involves supervising daily portering operations, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors. You'll be responsible for team development, operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards of professionalism and care in line with SEF's values.
As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Recruit, train, and manage portering staff, monitor attendance, conduct audits, and provide feedback.
Oversee portering tasks including deliveries, furniture moves, event setups, and building checks.
Ensure correct use of PPE, conduct inspections, report maintenance issues, and support emergency procedures.
Act as the first point of contact for staff concerns, promote customer care, and maintain clear communication.
Manage time recording systems, complete reports and paperwork, and ensure compliance with policies.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
Must have Right to Work in the UK.
A DBS will be completed for the successful candidate.
Proven ability to manage staff and meet service standards.
Understanding of COSHH and safe working practices.
Able to communicate clearly, resolve issues, and support team cohesion.
Capable of managing logistics, prioritising tasks, and improving service delivery.
Full UK Driving Licence
Required for operational duties involving transport and logistics.
