Argus produces commercial conferences for the energy and commodities markets. We specialise in agriculture, chemicals, crude oil, energy transition, fertilizers, generation fuels, LPG, metals, oil products. Argus has dedicated conference teams in Houston, London, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Singapore, running a global portfolio of 40+ events.


We are currently looking for a driven, commercially astute Portfolio Manager to join a dynamic global production team within our industry-leading international portfolio.


In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of the crude oil portfolio, ensuring these events are commercially successful, well attended and critically respected conferences. The crude portfolio consists of three conferences in London, Houston and Rio de Janeiro. Your overarching objective will be to establish pre-existing conferences as market leaders with regular annual growth, while also introducing new launch events into the portfolio if appropriate. You must be able to originate, develop and execute a commercial value proposition for your overall portfolio and for each individual event over a 1-3 year timeline.


You will write compelling conference programmes, with exciting and innovative formats in addition to identifying and securing a stellar speaker line-up of influential industry leaders, while managing the project from inception to completion. The role is highly collaborative - the ability to work across different areas of the business with internal stakeholders is critical. International travel will be needed as the Portfolio Manager will attend all events they deliver and may also travel for client meetings.

What will you be doing





Produce and deliver all events in the crude portfolio (3-4 conferences annually) Have a very strong grasp of each of the events in your portfolio: focus, USP, P&L, historic performance, 1-3 year growth plan and strategy Work on a detailed portfolio plan considering value proposition, new growth opportunities and revenue streams Develop a passion for the markets in which you operate. Have a very strong knowledge of your portfolio sector: content, market map, key players, trade flows, growth areas Develop strong regional relationships internally within the wider Argus crude team (Editorial, Business Development, Sales) Hold quarterly reviews and planning meetings with relevant crude stakeholders Communicate long term plans and provide regular updates within conferences team and crude SLT Position yourself at the centre of your sector through calls, face-to-face meetings and networking at Argus/external conferences Understand how market developments will impact the sectors in which you operate, and where an opportunity arises, propose new angles and launch conferences Drive continued innovation in content, networking and delegate experience Be able to manage your own timelines, ensuring that all deadlines are consistently hit. Work effectively with peers in sponsorship sales, delegate marketing, conference operations, delegate sales and customer service to ensure full and effective delivery of each project and your overall portfolio Communicate professionally with Argus senior management, editorial, business development, consulting and subscription sales to ensure we benefit from synergies with the rest of the Argus business and speak with one voice to our clients Develop a passion for the markets in which you operate

Skills and Experience



4+ years' experience of producing commercial B2B conferences Intelligent - educated to degree level (or equivalent) Commercial - understand more than what is just interesting, but what each market development means for our clients and Argus Proven ability in building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Innovative - thinks outside the box and looks for approaches to overcoming challenges Driven - ambitious and a self-starter that is motivated to exceed targets Networkable - the ability to develop strong professional relationships with colleagues and clients Client focused - empathy and strong client relationship skills Confident - sure of oneself without displaying arrogance.
