About the role
Are you passionate about driving strategic change through robust planning and portfolio assurance? As a Portfolio Planner, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining NFU Mutual's Integrated Portfolio Plan, ensuring our Enterprise Change Portfolio is optimally sequenced and aligned to deliver critical outcomes.
This role sits at the heart of our transformation agenda, providing visibility and control across a complex portfolio of change. You'll lead the development of early warning indicators, identify convergent risks, and ensure dependencies are managed effectively. Your insights will guide senior stakeholders and delivery teams, enabling timely interventions and informed decision-making.
You'll be responsible for embedding best practice planning standards, assuring delivery quality, and communicating portfolio developments across the organisation. From facilitating impact assessments to cascading updates, your work will ensure our plans remain realistic, reliable, and strategically aligned.
This is a unique opportunity to influence how NFU Mutual delivers change, working closely with the Head of Enterprise Portfolio Management and cross-functional teams to drive excellence in planning and execution.

About you
You're a strategic thinker with a strong background in portfolio planning and assurance. You bring a blend of technical and non-technical skills, with the ability to lead through influence and collaborate across diverse teams.
Your experience includes:
  • Leading strategic planning for complex portfolios and aligning goals with organisational strategy
  • Analysing performance metrics and conducting impact assessments to inform planning decisions
  • Managing risks and dependencies across multiple projects
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
  • Directing cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration to achieve shared outcomes
You'll also have:
  • Proven experience in project management and financial modelling
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving capabilities
  • A customer-centric mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
Qualifications:
  • Management of Portfolios Practitioner (Essential)
  • Microsoft Planning, Plan View or equivalent (Essential)
  • Desirable qualifications include: Assurance Leadership, Management of Risk Practitioner, P3O Practitioner, APM PMQ, Management of Value Practitioner, Prince2/Agile or equivalent
