Ed for All's Post 16 Alternative Provision is an inclusive and supportive setting dedicated to empowering young people aged 16-25 with additional support needs. We help our learners develop independence, confidence, and the skills needed for adulthood, further education, and employment.

Our Post-16 setting provides a nurturing, person-centred environment where every student is valued, and encouraged and supported to achieve their EHCP outcomes.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Student Mentor to join our Post-16 team at our Pilsworth base.

The ideal candidate will work closely with young people aged 16-25 who have unique learning and behavioural needs, offering them guidance, support, and mentorship. You will play a key role in helping students to build confidence, develop life skills, and progress toward their next steps, whether that's further education, employment, or training. You will supporting young people with their personal development and preparation for adulthood.

You must have experience in mentoring, teaching, or supporting children and young people, particularly those with behavioural or additional needs, and hold a full UK driving licence with use of your own car.

Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored support for students with additional learning needs to help them achieve their EHCP outcomes. Work with small groups and individual learners to support progress in maths, English, preparation for adulthood, and community-based enrichment activities. Promote positive behaviour, self-esteem, and independence through consistent and trauma-informed support. Support students in exploring college transitions, work experience, and career opportunities. Build positive, trusting relationships to motivate and engage learners. Contribute to assessment and monitoring by creating accurate and professional reports. Liaise with the Post-16 Lead and wider team to ensure effective communication and safeguarding practice. Participate in CPD and training opportunities. Ensure health and safety standards are always upheld, both in and beyond the base.
Essential Requirements

Minimum of 2 years' experience in the education sector or in supporting young people with additional or behavioural needs. Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle. Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and strategies to support social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Strong communication, literacy, and report-writing skills. Positive, proactive, and empathetic approach to working with young people.
Desirable

Experience in an alternative provision or post-16 educational setting. Understanding of EHCPs, transition planning, and preparation for adulthood frameworks.
