About the role

We wish to appoint an experienced post doctoral researcher to work on an exciting new NIHR-funded study, led by Leeds Beckett University aiming to explore and improve learning environments in care home settings across England. Bournemouth University is a collaborator and the applicant will be responsible in aspects of the research process in care home sites in the Dorset area as a recruiting site, working alongside Dr Susan Dewhurst and Professor Jane Murphy and a national team of experts in the field.



The post holder will undertake recruitment and consent of care homes, participants, undertake observational, interview and documentary and quantitative data collection and analysis, support intervention development, implementation and evaluation, and contribute to study reporting and dissemination.



Ideally the applicant will have experience of conducting research with older people living in the community and of a range of research methods, with a primary focus on qualitative research. The applicant will have a PhD or be close to submission of their thesis.



The post holder will be based in the School of Allied health and Exercise Science at Bournemouth University and will be expected to travel independently to and spend considerable time in care home sites across Dorset. Therefore, a driving license would be advantageous, or clarity about how to travel to research sites would be feasible.



The candidate needs to be confident, having good organisation and communication skills, a track record of successful research, and a flexible working approach is vital, using your own initiative as well as in a team.
