We invite applications for up to 15 months fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Associate position funded by EPSRC within the Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies (AiPT) at Aston University to carry out theoretical research on optical frequency comb and its applications.
About the role:
As the successful candidate you will be involved in the theoretical study and modelling of optical frequency combs and their applications in neuromorphic computing and high-speed optical fibre communications. You will also be involved in the design, development and numerical modelling of novel signal processing schemes for optical frequency comb and its applications in neuromorphic computing. You will be responsible for day-to-day supervision of postgraduate students and for disseminating research results at regular meetings as well as to the wider scientific community.
About you:
The successful candidate will possess a doctorate in theoretical physics or applied mathematics with some postdoctoral experience. We expect you to have a good recent publication record in international journals, experience of the modelling of optical communication systems and nonlinear PDEs, experience of developing new digital signal processing schemes using machine learning methods and knowledge of inverse scattering methods (nonlinear Fourier transform).
About us:
AiPT is one of the world's leading photonics research centres. Our successful track record of scientific achievements ranges from nonlinear photonics, and fibre lasers to medical lasers and bio-sensing for healthcare and the high-speed optical communications technology that underpins the internet and the digital economy. Applicants are welcome to join a vibrant team of researchers guided by world-leading AiPT cultivates a supportive and inclusive working environment where academics, post-doctoral researchers and students cooperate to overcome major scientific challenges in a welcoming and collegial atmosphere.
