Patcham High School have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Teacher - Maths Pathway


Teacher Apprenticeship


We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed apprentice teacher of Mathematics to teach across the full age and ability range. An apprentice will work towards attaining qualified teacher status (QTS) by blending workplace-learning with part-time university study.

The successful candidate will:

Hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Maths Have achieved a standard equivalent to grade C/4, or above, in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics. Be passionate about their subject and committed to making Maths an exciting and enjoyable subject for all our students; have outstanding interpersonal skills; be able to contribute to the growth of the department; be committed to high quality teaching and learning for students of all abilities; make accurate and productive use of assessment; have experience of working with young people; be a team player.

About the Apprenticeship

The Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship at level 6 is run by the University of Brighton who is responsible for supporting you with your learning and carrying out assessments.

The apprenticeship is upto 13 months duration 4 days in the classroom with 1-day per week in University or studying. You will receive additional support from a nominated mentor, throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship. During the apprenticeship you will spend upto 6 weeks in a contrasting school.

Entrants have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade 4 (see note 2) in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics

In addition, they will also require a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Maths for entry to graduate Initial Teacher Training programmes; assessed as suitable to train to teach by accredited Initial Teacher Training providers.

Apprentices will gain

Professional Knowledge and Skills required of a Teacher

On successful completion of the apprenticeship with Patcham High School School the apprentice will achieve Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship and Achievement of QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - awarded by the Department for Education - will be a mandatory requirement for apprentices' successful completion of the course. In addition to the apprenticeship the apprentice will have completed PGCE at Level 7.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
