The Gynaecological Oncology Post menopausal bleeding Pathway Navigator will form an integral part of the multidisciplinary team in caring for the physical, social and psychological needs of patients and carers diagnosed with Gynaecological cancer from the point of referral and throughout their treatment pathway.
The post holder will have daily phone contact with patients and their families, providing support, advice, and sign-posting to relevant bodies.
The role will also involve the undertaking of administrative tasks deemed suitable to the role by the Consultant Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS's).
The post holder will work as part of the specialty multidisciplinary team under the guidance and supervision of a registered practitioner.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
The post holder will be, with support and guidance, confident and competent in signposting patients to appropriate Two Week Wait (TWW) appointment following clinical triage of initial referral and co-ordinate the initial appointment aligning with scans where necessary.
The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of TWW capacity within the post-menopausal bleeding service.
The role will require highlighting any potential delays in the patient pathway and working to mitigate the impact of these problems to the patients. The postholder will be required to work with the senior staff to support and ensure that the patient and carer experience is central to every stage of their journey.
To support the specialty CNS's by responding to the non-complex workload and referring to the CNS's as appropriate.
Triaging telephone calls and providing basic advice and support. Supporting and advising patients with what to expect when they come for a transvaginal scan or outpatient hysteroscopy.
