Job Overview


Many survivors continue to experience domestic abuse post separation, including economic abuse, stalking, harassment and ongoing control through the family courts.

The is a new and unique; four-year initiative that will support individuals and families affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence, after the domestic abuse relationship has ended.

The programme will use a strengths-based model of support, empowering people to learn about safety planning, healthy boundaries and how to make safe arrangements for children post separation. It will also help whole families to recover from domestic abuse post separation by improving their physical/mental health and wellbeing; helping to rebuild positive relationships.

The project will have a strong focus on holistic support for survivors and their children. The programme will also support individuals to complete The Road to Recovery Toolkit and access ongoing support for themselves, and their children post separation, using a needs lead, trauma informed approach.

The post holder will be expected to have:

A good understanding of both the short and long-term effects of domestic abuse and sexual violence

A good understanding or a community-based collaborative approach to working with survivors

Main Objective and Outcomes of the role



Identify and assess the needs of individuals and families impacted by post-separation domestic and sexual abuse

To provide holistic information, advocacy and support to clients impacted by post-separation abuse

Ensure administrative tasks are timely and accurate

Work in accordance with and ensure compliance with WWDAS policies and procedures.

Ensure the outcomes of the project are delivered in line with the agreed outputs/outcomes as directed by the Post Separation Co-ordinator

Work with the Post Separation team to develop and improve a new resource pack to support the Road to Recovery toolkit (i.e.) legal aid leaflet, self-help tools

Engage with local partners and statutory agencies to develop relationships, identify gaps in services and provide knowledge and awareness of the impact of post separation domestic abuse

Promote the Post Separation Project ensuring stakeholders and partners are aware of the project & referral pathway

To work with the Post Separation Co-ordinator on engagement of post-separation groups to meet the needs and services of survivors

To ensure that individuals impacted by domestic and sexual abuse have access to specialist post-separation support & safety planning in Carmarthenshire

To ensure that referrals are picked up and that the support and safety planning is appropriate for survivors who are dealing with post separation abuse

To ensure that the Road to Recovery toolkit is advertised and explained to partners and survivors

To facilitate and run the Road to Recovery Sessions and group programme

Work with the Post Separation Co-ordinator to ensure that the project is aligned to WWDAS wider services; upskilling staff to use & deliver the toolkit

Ensure clients records and WWDAS case files are kept in accordance with WWDAS Case Management, Intake, Confidentiality and Information Sharing Policies and Procedures to ensure best practice across the new service

Monitor and record the Road to Recovery Project outcomes and ensure the collection of evaluation forms including exit forms & feedback forms from clients

Respond and take responsibility for the Safeguarding of clients and their children in line with WWDAS Policies and Procedures

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Posts will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) and open to women only. (Exempt under the Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1).
