About the role

Applications are invited for a Post doctorate Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine, Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. The post-doctoral Clinical Research Fellow will lead and contribute to translational studies investigating androgen physiology, reproductive function, and recovery following androgen abuse. The post holder will conduct clinical and translational research aimed at developing novel treatments and diagnostic tests for reproductive disorders within the research group of Professor Channa Jayasena.
What you would be doing

The successful candidate will be expected to take initiatives in planning and conducting research and ensuring the timely execution of such research. The post holder will conduct the first randomised, double-blind clinical study assessing the short to medium-term effects of testosterone replacement on testicular function and withdrawal symptoms in men who have discontinued androgen abuse within the previous year. The post holder will also contribute to grant applications, ethics submissions, dissemination of findings through publications and conference presentations, supervise students and participate in the wider academic activities of the research group. The post holder will hold an honorary clinical contract with the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust for the purposes of performing clinical research, and should not undertake additional clinical duties during this specific post (e.g. clinics or locum posts), to ensure they have sufficient time to perform their research project.
What we are looking for

Applicants must have a Medical Qualification with registration at the General Medical Council and have submitted their PhD thesis. Have knowledge and experience of treating both Endocrine disease and Reproductive disease. Have at least one original paper related to Endocrinology published in a high quality journal and at least one original paper related to Reproductive Endocrinology published in a high quality journal. Have experience of carrying out first into human studies of novel hormones, a flexible working attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
