The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and skilled Post-doctoral Research Associate to join the Department of Clinical Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an Innovate UK-funded research programme aimed at developing a pre-clinical pipeline for vaccine evaluation

.

The research will leverage advanced human tissue models to investigate immune responses and evaluate efficacy against respiratory viral pathogens, with a primary focus on influenza. The successful candidate will work at the forefront of translational immunology, helping to bridge the gap between fundamental research and real-world vaccine development.


This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to translational research with significant potential for public health impact. You will be part of a vibrant, interdisciplinary team, working at the interface of academia and industry.

Key responsibilities will include:

Support production of new SOPs and risk assessments Preparation stock compounds and reagents Preparation of cell culture media Maintenance of mammalian cell cultures Viral stock propagation and storage Plan and perform experiments independently according to established protocols Support collaborative research activities within the group Support the work of research students Identify and report project risks and opportunities Lead in paper writing activities Communicate data via appropriate mediums


The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as an integral and flexible member of a fast-paced collaborative environment. You will be able to demonstrate:





PhD in Biological Sciences (or related discipline) Experience generating laboratory data and maintaining accurate records Experience publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals Experience in mammalian and viral cell culture Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience managing multiple projects Familiarity with laboratory safety and good practices
