This new full time post is available from 1 October 2025 on a fixed term basis until 31 March 2027.

The post

The Exeter Technologies Group (ETG) wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr. Nan Yi, on an EPSRC funded project investigating high performance polymer insulating coatings for high-voltage e-motors. The work will involve polymer engineering and science aspects such as electrical, thermal and mechanical characterisation of high voltage insulation materials. This post is available from 01/10/2025 to 31/03/2027. The successful applicant will work on this project, collaborating between the University of Exeter and the Warwick Manufacturing Group. They will work as part of a team of postdoctoral research fellows who work on a variety of projects, with the opportunity to provide mutual guidance and training and the potential to be involved in joint publications.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in dielectric materials and/or polymer science and engineering. Applicants will be able to display knowledge of material science, material testing techniques and polymer dielectric testing including BDV and PDIV. Experience in materials for high voltage applications and knowledge of high-performance polymers are desirable. However, just as important is the ability to learn quickly and apply theoretical knowledge in a practical environment.

Please ensure you read the and Person Specification for full details of this role.
