The Kennedy Institute at the University of Oxford has an exciting opening for a talented post-doc to join the group of Associate Professor Stephen Sansom (https://sansomlab.org). We are looking for a computational researcher to undertake computational genomics projects that will primarily involve the analysis of single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data. These projects will include providing collaborative support to Kennedy research groups and helping to lead an investigation of the role of mechanical force in shaping bone and cartilage development in collaboration with the group of Associate Professor Angus Wann at the University of Southampton. You will have the oppourtunity to develop your research profile by regularly contributing to publications in high impact journals. You will work closely with world-leading research groups who are using cutting-edge approaches to investigate the immune system and the cellular causes of diseases such as atheroschlerosis, inflammatory bowel disease and arthritis (https://www.kennedy.ox.ac.uk/research/research-groups).

You should have a track record of publications or submitted manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals that demonstrates experience with the statistical analysis and interpretation of complex genomics datasets. A PhD/DPhil in a discipline of direct relevant to computational genomics research is essential. In this role, you will perform scientific research, reviewing and refining working hypotheses and developing and acquiring relevant skills as necessary. You will analyse and interpret data, preparing and publishing your findings in peer-reviewed journals. You will help to develop and maintain computational workflows and methods and help to train and supervise other researchers. Expert-level understanding of single-cell and/or spatial genomics data analysis is essential. The successful applicant will be based at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences.

This core-funded post will be initially appointed as a fixed-term, full time position until 31/07/2026.

A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 7: \xc2\xa335,308 - \xc2\xa343,155 per annum) with commensurate reduction in responsibilities if a suitable candidate cannot be found to fill the Grade 8 position.
