The School

The Role
The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow - Innovation and Knowledge Transfer will strengthen the Faringdon Centre's capacity for enterprise and applied research in non-destructive testing (NDT), remote sensing, and related technologies.
The postholder will:
Develop and support research activities aligned with the Centre's priorities.
Build partnerships with industry, public sector and community stakeholders to promote knowledge exchange and commercial application of research.
Contribute to research publications, reports, and policy outputs.
Support preparation of REF 2029 Impact Case Studies and KEF deliverables.
Assist in developing bids and collaborative projects.
Deliver field and laboratory activities, and supervise or support student and PhD projects within the Centre.
The postholder will report to Prof Fabio Tosti, Director of the Faringdon Centre, and collaborate closely with the Research Support Unit and Knowledge Exchange teams.
The Person
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Qualifications:
PhD in Civil Engineering, Geophysics, or a related field.
Technical expertise:
Experience with NDT or remote-sensing technologies, ideally including ground-penetrating radar or allied geophysical tools.
Research record:
Evidence of contributing to high-quality publications, reports, or policy briefs.
Enterprise orientation:
Understanding of research impact and knowledge-exchange processes.
Stakeholder engagement:
Experience working with external partners (industry and/or public sector).
Practical skills:
Competence in laboratory and fieldwork within relevant fields.
Transferable skills:
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project-management abilities.
Personal qualities:
Proactive, self-directed, impact-focused, and aligned with UWL's Research Strategy 2024-2029 and Impact 2028 frameworks.
