We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join Professor Xin Lu's research group, which focuses on understanding host immune responses against Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) in epithelial cancers and developing immunotherapy strategies to target EBV. You will work on EBV-specific T cell responses and contribute to the development of immunotherapy approaches for EBV-associated epithelial cancers. The role will also involve providing guidance and support to junior members of the group, including research assistants, technicians, and DPhil students.
You will be responsible for leading on the development and pre-clinical assessment of both molecular and cellular immunotherapy products, using in vitro and in vivo platforms. You will process clinical samples, operate specialist laboratory equipment such as flow cytometry analysers, sorters, and imaging systems, and collaborate in the preparation of scientific publications and presentations. You will also contribute ideas for new projects, represent the group at meetings, and support collaborative work with national and international partners.
It is essential that you hold (or be close to completing) a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject and have strong experience in T-cell biology, including functional assays such as flow cytometry, T-cell receptor cloning/sequencing, cytokine release assays, ELISpots, and cytotoxicity assays. Knowledge of EBV biology and EBV-associated cancers is essential, as is the ability to manage your own research and contribute ideas for new directions and funding opportunities. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, with the ability to prepare publications, present findings, and represent the group externally.
