to join Dr Azim Ansari's research group in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine, based at the Peter Medawar Building for Pathogen Research, Oxford. This Wellcome Trust-funded position offers an exciting opportunity to lead the computational and statistical analysis of large-scale host and pathogen genomic datasets, with the aim of understanding how genetic variation in both host and virus influences infectious disease outcomes.
About You
The successful candidate will take a leading role in analysing high-dimensional genomic and clinical data, conducting genome-to-genome and genome-wide association studies, and developing new statistical methods to uncover host-pathogen interactions. They will also contribute to the wider activities of the research group, including collaborative projects, supervision of junior researchers, and preparation of publications and grant proposals.
Applicants should hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in statistical genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related quantitative discipline, with proven expertise in the analysis of large-scale sequencing data and strong computational skills (e.g. R, Python, MATLAB). A solid understanding of infectious disease genetics and evidence of high-quality research output are essential.
Applications from candidates who have not yet completed their PhD will be considered.
