Postdoctoral Researcher: Statistical genomics and epidemiology

We are looking to appoint a research scientist to work on projects leveraging the latest advances in statistical modelling to understand and analyse complex genomic data. You will be joining a large dynamic interdisciplinary team of clinicians, bioinformaticians and AI/NN experts and will be encouraged to interact widely with this group and with the other scientists across the Big Data Institute, the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery and the wider university.

The post is based at the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital and in the Big Data Institute. The post is full time however consideration would be given to candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 80% FTE)

The post is for a fixed term (funded to 31 January 2025 in the first instance).

You will be carrying out research in genetic epidemiology and statistical genomics, and will design and implement multi-level and longitudinal models for proteomics and clinical data. You will develop pipelines for curating and harmonising large multi-modal datasets including clinical data and will provide input and ideas for new research projects.

You will have a Masters degree a relevant subject area, for example genetic epidemiology relating to neurodegeneration or medical sciences, statistics and bioinformatics. With experience with genomics data and bioinformatics tools, you will have strong scientific computing skills for data analysis such as use of R or STATA. Experience of working in psychiatry or neuroscience would be desirable.
