We're looking for an experienced and engaging Post-Primary Science Tutor to join our dedicated team in Carrickfergus. If you're confident in teaching biology, chemistry and/or physics based on the Northern Ireland post-primary curriculum, we'd love to hear from you!
Your Role:
Deliver in-person tutoring in science, chemistry, biology, and physics for Key Stage 3, GCSE, and/or A-Level students.
Create personalised learning plans to support individual student goals
Break down complex scientific concepts in ways that are easy to understand
Track student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed
Maintain communication with parents and guardians on student performance
What We're Looking For:Essential:
Degree in Science or a related subject
Minimum of 1 year's experience teaching or tutoring post-primary science
Strong knowledge of the Northern Ireland Curriculum for post-primary levels
Ability to teach one or more science strands: biology, chemistry, physics
Excellent communication and lesson delivery skills
Reliable, patient, supportive, and confident working with teens
Passion for science and helping students achieve their academic potential
Preferred:
A teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE)
Experience with students who have additional learning needs
What to Expect:
A brief teaching demo will be part of the application process
Tutors should be willing to commit to the role for at least one year
All sessions will be in person
This is a self-employed role
Key Details:
Pay ranges from 20 to 30 per hour, depending on the level and type of lesson--whether one-to-one, group sessions, home visits, or sessions held at our Carrickfergus Hub. Further details will be discussed during the interview.
Expected hours: 4 - 25 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible - weekdays and weekends available
Requirements: UK bank account, right to work in Northern Ireland, and enhanced AccessNI check (or willingness to obtain one)
