Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, confident Pottery Teacher to join our busy creative studio in Chester. This role is ideal for someone who is highly skilled on the pottery wheel, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, and is passionate about delivering engaging, well-planned and creatively diverse pottery courses.

About the Role



You will be responsible for delivering high-quality pottery wheel classes and courses for adults, children and teens. Our students expect to learn how to create a range of functional and decorative objects, so strong lesson planning skills and the ability to design exciting, progressive projects are essential.

This role requires someone who can work independently, use initiative, and manage their own workload, ensuring classes run smoothly from setup to clean-down.

Key Responsibilities



Plan and deliver creative, structured pottery lessons focused on skill progression Teach confident, safe and clear pottery wheel techniques Design courses where students create a variety of forms and objects Create exciting lessons that encourage confidence, creativity and repeat bookings Work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, busy studio environment Work independently, managing class setup, delivery and clean-down Use initiative to solve day-to-day issues during sessions Prepare materials, clay and equipment before classes Reset and clean the studio after sessions Load and unload kilns (training provided if needed) Monitor student progress and adapt teaching as required
Essential Requirements

Pottery wheel experience (essential) Ability to plan creative, varied and progressive pottery courses Confidence teaching both adults and children Ability to work independently and manage your workload Comfortable working quickly and professionally in a fast-paced environment Excellent time management and organisational skills Reliable, punctual and professional
Desirable

Hand-building experience Teaching or workshop experience Ceramics or art qualification Glazing and basic kiln knowledge
Hours & Availability

Part-time / sessional role Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday availability required Approx. 10-16 hours per week Sessions typically 2-3 hours Opportunity for additional hours as courses grow
