A rapidly growing smart energy technology company based in Sheffield is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to support the commissioning and ongoing development of cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
This role is particularly suited to an experienced Commissioning Engineer looking to transition into a more engineering-led position, with a focus on Power Conversion and Battery Management Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Join the Commissioning Team with particular responsibility for:
Power Conversion Systems (PCS) - ideally including Sungrow and EPC-based platforms
Battery Management Systems (BMS) and Site Battery Management Systems (SBMS)
Support the configuration, commissioning, and optimisation of BESS components
Assist with troubleshooting and system validation during deployment and testing phases
Provide feedback to design and R&D teams to inform product improvement
Undertake occasional site visits - no more than 3-5 days per month on average
Ideal Experience & Skills:
Hands-on experience commissioning and configuring PCS, particularly Sungrow or similar platforms
Strong understanding of BMS/SBMS and their role in energy storage safety and performance
Practical knowledge of electrical systems and control integration in energy storage
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, logic diagrams, and commissioning document
Experience in microgrid design is a plus, but not essential
