Job Overview


We are seeking a reliable and technically confident

PPM Service Engineer

to carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on retail entrance gate systems. This role ensures safety, compliance, and optimal performance of automated gates, following a structured job scope and maintaining strong communication with store management.

Duties



Sign in at the store's Customer Service or relevant service desk as a PPM Service Engineer.

Permit & Compliance



Complete all required

site Permit to Work

documentation (paper/electronic where applicable). Adhere to all site safety protocols and avoid filming customers where possible.

Initial Condition Recording



Capture a

pre-start video

showing the current condition of all gates. Check each gate for an asset tag and apply any missing ones.

PPM Inspection & Maintenance Tasks

Carry out all inspections and adjustments required within the job scope, including:

Alignment and levelling of gate arms Fixings, internal screws and inspection covers Radar covers Sensors Paired gate functionality Potentiometer and DIP switch settings Rails, cups and fittings
Perform a "wobble test" on each gate and complete any required adjustments. Repairs

& Parts Replacement



Diagnose issues and repair gates that are not operating correctly. Replace worn, damaged, or missing parts as required within the job scope.

Functional Testing



Complete a

box test

on each gate using supplied access control tools. Adjust sensors as required. Capture a

video of each box test

, showing the asset tag. Ensure each gate completes

20 consecutive successful operations

before sign-off.

Documentation & Reporting



Complete all required documentation

as per the job scope

, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and submitted before leaving site. Provide supporting photos, videos, or notes where required. Note any additional works that fall outside of the planned PPM activity.

Housekeeping



Clean all gates and arms using supplied cleaning products. Leave the site clean, tidy, and free of waste. Inform the Duty Manager that you are undertaking a scheduled entrance gate PPM. Ask if there are any known issues with the gates. Escalate any refusal to allow the PPM to proceed to the Pinntec team before leaving site.

Experience



Experience in electro-mechanical engineering, access control, automation systems or similar field service roles. Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills. Ability to follow structured technical procedures precisely. Confident communicator able to work professionally in retail environments. Competent using mobile apps for documentation, sign-off, and photo/video capture. Full UK driving licence.

Pay: 30,000.00-32,000.00 per year
