Key Responsibilities (Part-time Scope)
Media Strategy & Relations
Develop and deliver creative PR and media strategies that raise ATTA's profile in the UK and other priority markets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with trade and consumer media, serving as ATTA's primary press contact.
Identify innovative ways to engage the media and positively influence perceptions of ATTA.
Draft and distribute press releases, press kits, and news updates.
Content & Communications
Create compelling content for media, newsletters, blogs, and thought leadership pieces.
Oversee internal and external communications with clear, consistent messaging.
Contribute to social media PR by engaging with relevant media and stakeholders on key channels.
Membership & Events Support
Amplify member success stories and profile membership benefits through targeted PR.
Provide comms support around key trade shows and events to maximise PR and media engagement.
Collaborate with tourism boards and associations for joint PR opportunities.
Media Monitoring & Crisis Support
Monitor press coverage of African tourism and identify opportunities to profile ATTA.
Provide guidance on crisis communications when required, in collaboration with senior management.
About You
Essential:
Proven PR and communications experience (ideally 5+ years) in tourism, travel, or membership organisations.
Strong UK media connections with a track record of working with both trade and consumer press.
Excellent writing and storytelling skills with attention to detail.
A track record of developing innovative and creative PR campaigns that drive positive perception.
Ability to prioritise and deliver high-impact work within part-time hours.
Collaborative, adaptable, and proactive attitude.
Desirable:
Familiarity with the African tourism landscape and stakeholders.
Media connections across key African source markets.
Interest in responsible tourism and Africa.
Other:
Willingness to travel occasionally in the UK, Africa, and internationally.
