Location:

Tresham College - Corby and/or Wellingborough Campuses



Salary/Benefits:

Salary is between 26,780 and 31,415 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

About the role:





We are currently seeking a Practical Instructor in Construction or Building Services Engineering to join our Construction and Building Services department at The Bedford College Group

.





As a Practical, you play an important role in the success of our students through:


Practical Instruction & Assessment

- Deliver hands-on skills training and assess learners' practical competence across a range of vocational courses, providing timely and constructive feedback.

Resource & Workshop Management

- Maintain and prepare practical teaching areas, manage inventory, and ensure tools, equipment, and materials are available and in good condition.

Health & Safety Oversight

- Take responsibility for health and safety in all practical areas, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with College policies and regulations.

Curriculum & Technical Support

- Support the development of teaching schemes and practical learning materials, and provide technical assistance in both workshop and classroom settings.

Collaboration & Engagement

- Liaise with industry contacts, participate in marketing and recruitment events, and contribute to team meetings and College-wide initiatives.

About you:




Qualifications & Industry Experience

- Holds a Level 2 qualification in a construction trade and has recent, successful hands-on experience in the sector; willing to work toward teaching qualifications.

Health, Safety & Legislation Knowledge

- Demonstrates strong awareness of UK construction legislation, safe working practices, and consistently upholds high standards of housekeeping and health and safety.

Teaching & Learner Support Skills

- Capable of demonstrating tasks to individuals and small groups, supporting a high-quality learning environment, and promoting equality and diversity.

Organisation & Communication

- Manages workload independently, maintains accurate records, and communicates effectively in person, in writing, and over the phone.

Professionalism & Flexibility

- Upholds safeguarding responsibilities, adapts to varied work locations and schedules, and contributes positively to team culture and the College's professional reputation.
