The post holder will work to develop and maintain nursing practice in line with the NMC Future Nurse Standards, associated trust objectives and priorities. They will develop and utilise competencies in line with local, regional and national policy and support the wider Trust to identify areas of clinical practice which require improvement. This is with the aim to formulate strategies to implement evidence-based practice and promote safe patient care.
The post holder will work closely with the preceptorship, clinical support workers and where relevant overseas nurse teams to provide clinical learning and assessment of staff in the nursing family are met. The post holder will also contribute to the pastoral care needs of those in the nursing family at Homerton healthcare engaging in and supporting relevant initiatives to address retention.
Main duties of the job
Act as practice development specialist lead collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to develop staff and deliver teaching sessions outside and in the clinical area relevant to workstream and practice in line with trust priorities and objectives
Work clinically for a percentage of time agreed with line manager supporting individual nurses in developing their practice in line
Produce written accounts of each episode of clinical facilitation, documenting learning achieved and areas for further development.
Lead on maintaining and supporting others to maintain, records of training including competencies undertaken by each member of staff
Provide expert education advice and guidance to support practice supervisors, assessors and preceptors in their role in ensuring that learning opportunities are effectively utilised
To advise in relationship to educational opportunities and assist nurses in developing themselves in accordance with their personal development plan, career pathway and/or appraisal objectives.
To be an active member of the Trust's Practice Development Forum (PDF) and other platforms for developing practice.
Leading on the development of training and support programmes to meet team, organisational and external requirements.
Lead on quality assurance strategies and audit in relevant workstreams providing reassurance to professional and specialist leads on value and quality of practice learning.
