Streatham Common Practice is looking to recruit a high calibre Maternity Locum Practice Nurse to join its workforce and practise in line with its patient centered ethos.

Experience in General Practice Nursing is essential.

Streatham Common Practice cares for 11,400 + patients. It is led by three partners who are supported by a full complement of highly skilled and motivated management, administrative and clinical staff.

It has a CQC rating of "Good" in 2019. It is located 10 minutes from Streatham Common Station with direct lines to London terminals, excellent bus links and there is on street parking.

The practice has active involvement with the local ICB, Federation and PCN. We are a training practice and look to support all the clinical staff by having daily clinical meetings as well as quarterly PLT meetings.

Job description and responsibilities

JOB TITLE: PRACTICE NURSE

REPORTS TO: THE PARTNERS (Clinically)

THE OPERATIONS MANAGER (Administratively)

HOURS: Negotiable

Job Summary:

The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of Practice.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs Cytology Wound care / ulcer care/Doppler Removal of Sutures New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis Travel Clinic Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry Venepuncture Hypertension Management Ear syringing Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) Holistic Health Assessments
Other tasks will include

Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels Participation in administrative systems in the Practice At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required. On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

Pay: From 25.00 per hour
