We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our healthcare team to provide a Saturday morning session working alongside a GP, and either 1 or 2 sessions between Monday-Friday. This role would suit a qualified nurse who is interested in practice nursing and wants to test the water with a few sessions per week.
We will also consider applications from Nurse Associates.
Responsibilities
Undertake phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, height and weight checks, ECGs, urine testing and analysis.
Assess and dress simple wounds. Undertake suture removal.
Undertake NHS Health checks. Provide lifestyle advice and counselling including referral to other services, e.g. smoking cessation and weight management.
Provide care to patients who have suffered a minor injury e.g. animal bite, sprain, burn, bruising.
Administer injections e.g. B12, denosumab etc. This must only be done if the medication has been prescribed.
Carry out adult immunisations.
Conduct respiratory reviews with patients, understanding QOF requirements.
Conduct diabetes reviews with patients, understanding QOF requirements and the 9 care processes. This will include foot checks and supporting patients with lifestyle advice.
Assist GPs with minor operations and coil fittings.
Act as a chaperone to other members of the clinical team as required.
Provide emergency care to staff, patients or members of the public as required.
Follow up on patients who have not attended, specifically children not brought to appointments or regular non-attenders for reviews and screening.
Report any safeguarding concerns.
Ensure consent is gained for all procedures and that any concerns about capacity are discussed with a senior clinician before proceeding.
Requirements
Registered Nurse qualification with valid nursing registration.
Able to work in the UK without sponsorship. As a small business we do not have the ability to offer sponsorship.
Previous experience in a GP surgery is not essential.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with patients.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
