Job summary

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of general practice nursing care to the whole practice population. Key elements of the role are the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients presenting with a long term condition and the provision of preventative health care. They will demonstrate safe clinical decision-making and provide expert care in the management of patients. The post holder is expected to work collaboratively with all members of the practice team to meet the needs of patients and support practice objectives, policies and procedures. The post holder will work within their scope of practice and in accordance with local policies and procedures and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct: Standards for conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives.

We are looking for a candidate that is already fully trained and skilled in all areas of General Practice nursing, and whom has experience of working in primary care.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include but not limited to:

Cervical screening,

Child and adult immunisation

Ear syringing

Spirometry/Peak flow Readings

Phlebotomy

Wound care and management

Blood pressure monitoring

Contraception checks and sexual health advice/screening

Requesting pathology/cytology tests

Chaperoning and assisting clinicians with minor surgery and coil fitting

Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

We work out of two locations and have 18,000 patients and we pride ourselves on providing the highest standards of patient care. We have an Outstanding CQC rating.

We use EMIS Web and have a big team of GPs, Paramedics and Pharmacists who work alongside our excellent nursing team. We are a training practice and have a strong emphasis on education. Our practice is actively seeking and developing new opportunities and improvements to our services.
