Duties and Responsibilities The practice nurse will provide nursing treatments to patients in the following areas; Provide general nursing services in line with practice protocols Chronic disease management Vaccinations and immunisations (adults and child) Administration of medication via injections (S/C and I/M) Wound care and management Cervical cytology (if trained) Telephone advice Blood samples, Swabs, Cervical Screening Health promotion Travel Health Advice Ear Care Emergency Management Anaphylaxis and respiratory techniques To assist GPs with any minor surgery / operations, as required Family planning / womens health Supporting QOF and other practice targets Chaperoning Other; Ensure the treatment rooms are safe and clean Maintain treatment room equipment and stock Ability to work flexibly to support the whole nursing team and met the needs of the service Adhere to infection control policies and procedures Understanding of child health / safeguarding children Mental Health appropriate referral mechanisms Ensure accurate notes and documentation of patient records Attend and participate in both team and practice meetings, where required Ensure health and safety regulations are complied with Ensure the quality and diversity of patients, carers and colleagues is respected The above list is not exhaustive and it may be necessary to undertake work as may be required by the practice to maintain a high standard and efficient service to our patients.
