To deliver safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate gymnastics sessions for children aged approximately
18 months to 5 years
, fostering fundamental movement skills, confidence, and enjoyment through play-based learning and physical activity.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and lead fun, structured gymnastics sessions tailored to early childhood development stages.
Introduce children to basic gymnastics movements balance, jumping, rolling, climbing, swinging using age-appropriate progressions and equipment.
Create a positive and nurturing environment that promotes confidence, teamwork, and self-esteem.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times through proper supervision, safe spotting, and appropriate equipment setup.
Work with parents and caregivers, encouraging their involvement and communication regarding children's progress and enjoyment.
Support children's physical literacy, coordination, and social skills through games, songs, and imaginative activities.
Set up and tidy away equipment in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Keep attendance and progress records as required.
Contribute to the continuous development of the pre-school gymnastics programme.
Attend staff meetings and training as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Recognised coaching qualification (e.g., British Gymnastics Pre-School Coach Award, or equivalent).
Experience working with young children in a coaching, early years, or education setting.
Current first aid and safeguarding/child protection certificates.
Knowledge of early years physical and motor development principles.
Desirable:
Additional gymnastics coaching qualifications (e.g., UKCC Level 1/2).
Early Childhood Education or Sports Coaching background.
Paediatric First Aid certification.
Experience with parent-and-toddler sessions or structured play environments.
