To provide a safe and efficient outpatient nursing service, ensuring treatment plans are effectively carried out, and facilitating a positive pre and post-surgical care journey. Ensuring regulatory compliance at clinic level wjth legislation (including The Health & Social Care Act and The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974) through systematic audit and internal inspection, production of action plans and re-audit. Take on Registered Manager role for regulated activities at site.
Duties
Provide all outpatient nursing services at site.
Ensure clinical cover at site, working to rota agreed centrally.
Assure the operational running of the clinic, time keeping, etiquette and process
Ensure all key paperwork is completed for each clinic and medical records are maintained.
Coordinate the surgeon, anaesthetist, and any other professionals involved in care to ensure all appropriate follow ups or pre-operative flags are raised regarding any concerns raised.
Follow the admission protocols to ensure only patients meeting the admission criteria are safely selected for surgery
Escalate concerns to medical practitioners immediately, in writing, and obtain responses for patient files
Perform any pre-operative screening, testing and paperwork as required.
To work hours flexibly and cover hours in evenings and weekends as planned
To learn and develop skills in pre and post operative wound care and ward/ theatre care practices as required by the Company.
To develop and be competent in venipuncture.
To audit compliance with all CQC regulated quality indicators, in line with Company audit framework.
Adhere to national legislation such as the Health and Social Care Act and the Health and Safety at Work Act and take action in conjunction with central Governance Team where standards are not in place.
To participate in training and education programmes for staff of all levels as and when required.
To ensure that risk assessments are suitable and sufficient.
To lead through example and foster a clinical culture of best standards and current practice and not merely national standards as detailed by The Care Quality Commission and Healthcare Inspectorate Wales
REGULATING COMISSIONER:
Responsibility to uphold and adhere to the guidance and required specification for registration with the Care Quality Commission/Healthcare Inspectorate Wales. Act as a registered manager for your workplace upon request and ensure clinical environment and patient safety are held as paramount.
INFECTION CONTROL:
Ensure all company Infection Control policies are followed. Undertake audits and observe national guidance for reporting, managing and overall prevention of infection.
MANAGEMENT:
Contribute to collaborative working relationships and effective communications between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Assist in the efficient and cost-effective management of Clinical Stock.
Ensure compliance with policies and guidelines (health and safety, COSHH, risk assessment, fire regulations, infection control, decontamination, adverse events and complaints)
Be aware of and contribute to the clinical governance agenda. This includes participation in the annual risk assessment, implementing action plans and dealing with complaints as delegated and reporting any untoward incidents, within the agreed time frames.
Promote quality care and service through the use of best practice.Research, initiate and evaluate new ideas to foster continuous improvement.
Ensure that any hazards in the clinic or Head Office are reported to the Registered Manager
Undertake Health and Safety training commensurate with role and conduct risk assessment develop action plans and implement these.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The Registered Nurse is expected to be fully conversant with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and associated national guidelines and abide by their guidance.
Have experience in managing/dressing post-operative wounds, with training in post-operative care and tissue viability. Experience in the cosmetic surgery sector would be preferred.
Take responsibility for personal and professional updating and development, including mandatory training.
Regularly assess and evaluate practice by audit and implement change in a participative manner with nursing/business colleagues.
Maintain professional contemporaneous records at all times.
Participate in personal development review.
Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour and ensure effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and relatives.
Have union/insurance cover - for example RCN membership.
Train for and take on Laser Protection Supervisor role for clinic (if appropriate).
The Registered Nurse is expected to be fully conversant with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and associated national guidelines and abide by their guidance.
Ability to manage own workload and work independently as part of a wider network of Nursing Professionals.
Experience of holding management responsibilities within a regulated environment (private hospital or clinic highly preferred).
