Background

The Faculty of Finance, Bayes Business School seeks to appoint a Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow. This position will be full-time with an expected start date of Autumn 2023.

We seek a highly skilled and motivated individual to join us as a full-time Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow. The position will entail close collaboration and assistance to Prof Sujata Visaria a member of the Standing Panel on Impact Assessment of CGIAR. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for a second year, starting in the autumn of 2023. The position involves responsibilities that serve as excellent preparation for Ph.D. programmes in economics, including data processing and analysis, survey design, literature reviews and presentations.

Responsibilities

You will provide scientific and technical analysis in support of the planning, implementation and monitoring of the SPIA workplan. You will provide general research support to Prof Visaria, including data collection and analysis, preparation of presentation materials support with manuscript preparation; conduct literature reviews; and other background analysis and to support research design and planning. The position will be based in London, and the successful candidate will be able to participate in academic life at City University, including the ability to attend a wide variety of research seminars. The Research Fellow will work close with SPIA academic panel members, researchers from SPIA\'s , and the CGIAR\'s Independent Advisory and Evaluation Se! rvice.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have a relevant bachelor\'s degree, and proof of graduate course work (Master or PhD) in economics or a closely related field completed. They must also demonstrate an interest in agriculture, natural resources and food, water and land systems in developing countries.

Essential skills and experience for all applicants include strong quantitative skills, including experience with data analysis and econometrics, good interpersonal and communications skills and experience of team-working and co-operation in the academic environment. Also knowledge of impact assessment.
