Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled prep and grill chef to join our culinary team and help run our Summer Garden Kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and a good understanding of food safety practices. We are open to student or trainee chefs who are looking to gain more experience. You will play a vital role in preparing and serving meals in our outdoor kitchen, while ensuring the highest standards of quality and hygiene in the kitchen. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment and are eager to contribute to a dynamic team.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of items, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish. Assist with meal preparation by chopping, marinating, and seasoning ingredients as required. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the grill station and surrounding kitchen area. Follow all food safety guidelines to ensure the safe handling and storage of food products. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to coordinate meal service and ensure timely delivery of dishes. Monitor inventory levels of grilling supplies and communicate needs to management. Participate in regular cleaning duties, including equipment maintenance and sanitation procedures.

Skills

A desire to gain experience in a commercial culinary setting Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, particularly related to grilling methods. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices for kitchen hygiene. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen environment. A passion for food preparation and an eagerness to learn new skills in the culinary field.
The QA is a fun and fast paced environment! You will get an equal share of tips, discounted food at the QA Kitchen, Garden Kitchen and our sister business Wythmails coffee shop. This role requires regular weekend and evening work (Fri-Sun) to help run our outdoor Garden Kitchen, which opens in the summer months.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 11.44-14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 - 25 per week
