To participate in "on-the-job" training whilst gaining experience in a variety of pharmacy services and undertaking an approved Pharmacy course resulting in registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), if successful.
Pharmacy Technicians help manage the supply of medicines and devices in a Pharmacy and assist Pharmacists with advisory services - they are expected to work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team and are able to work with minimum supervision with a high degree of autonomy, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work that they have undertaken and that of others.
To undertake distance learning combined with "on-the-job" training, in order to complete a recognised Pharmacy qualification, in order to gain registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), if successful
To undertake periods of training in all areas of pharmaceutical services on a rotational basis
To participate in regional and departmental education and training. Must show a commitment to study and finishing the two year Pharmacy Technician course.
To liaise with colleagues, tutors and professional staff in other disciplines
To maintain safe systems of work in accordance with relevant medicines legislation and with the Health and Safety at Work Act
To undertake other duties as reasonably requested by Senior Management
To attend fortnightly meetings with your Educational Supervisor
To attend regional study days and online forums

To assist the dispensary team in delivering the dispensary service which will involve dispensing or checking inpatients/outpatient and controlled drug medication
To accurately receive prescriptions in to the dispensary and ensuring prescription charges are collected where appropriate
Ensure medication supplied is within agreed turnaround times to minimise waiting times for patients
Maintain high quality data input of patient and drug information in to pharmacy JAC system
To participate in audits necessary for service developments as set out by dispensary management
