Job Overview



We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Assistant to join our team in a nurturing environment focused on early childhood education. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Preschool Leader and Deputy Leader team, ensuring the safety and well-being of children while fostering their development through engaging activities. This position requires strong communication skills, a passion for childcare, and the ability to manage and inspire young learners.

Hours per week

: 26.5 hours per week (Mon - Fri) made up from

8.30am-1.45pm

4 days per week,

8.30am-2pm

1 day per week.

Salary:

The salary for this role is currently set at

24,404

per annum (pro-rata),

12.65

per hour. This salary is under review currently and may increase.

Contract

: Permanent, Term Time (Salary will be divided/paid over a 12 month period)

Duties



Assist in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development. Support the Preschool Leader and Deputy Leader in daily activities within the setting. Ensure a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for children at all times. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to build positive relationships. Help maintain accurate records of children's activities and development milestones. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional growth.

Experience

:

Essential Criteria:



? Minimum Level 3 Children's Care Learning and Development or equivalent (can be working towards)

? Paediatric First Aid *

? Knowledge of Curricular Guidance for Preschool Education, Department of Education for Northern Ireland

? Minimum of 1 year recent relevant experience

? Knowledge of Minimum Standards for Health and Social Care Trust (HSCT)

Desirable Criteria

:

? Food Hygiene Certificate *

? Safeguarding Training *

? 2 or more years relevant experience

? Knowledge and practical experience of observations

*Or willingness to obtain



Selection Process:



This application process will close at 12noon on Monday 2nd June 2025. No applications will be considered after this time.

Candidates shortlisted for interview will be invited for interview week commencing 9th June 2025 with interviews taking place week commencing 16th June 2025.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to spend a short period of time in the Preschool setting as part of the selection process, but candidates will be given more details where appropriate at the time.

It is currently proposed that this role will commence on a date to be confirmed in August 2025.
