Pre School Assistant White Rock Pre-school, Paignton
Hours - 4 days per week, (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) 9-3pm, Term time only.
We are looking for a qualified, warm, friendly, vibrant individual, to work as part of the Pre-School team under the direction of the Pre-School Manager and supervisor. To provide safe, high quality education and care for pre-school children, to fulfil legal and statutory requirements while working within the EYFS and with regard to our policies and procedures; to assist in maintaining a stimulating and enjoyable environment at all times.

Reporting relationships: reporting directly to the Pre-school Manager
Purpose of the job:
MAIN DUTIES:
1. Act as a key person to a group of children, to meet children's learning and development needs.
2. To plan for children's learning and development needs by providing stimulating and age-appropriate play and learning experiences both indoors and outdoors.
3. Carry out observations to establish children's individual development, general health and well-being needs.
4.Using Tapestry as an online learning journal to capture children`s development and learning journey.
5. To supervise children, assessing risk, to protect them from dangerous or harmful situations.
6. Encourage and foster positive relationships with parents, carers and guardians to work in partnership to meet children's individual needs. Offer support and guidance and ensure parents/carers are regularly involved in discussion about their child's progress.
7. To be aware of any special educational needs or disability a child may have and work with other staff as appropriate to ensure each child's individual needs are known and met.
8. To provide a learning environment that is free from discrimination where each child is listened to, valued and respected.
9. To assist in the preparation of snacks, ensuring that all children's dietary and cultural needs are met, and consideration is given to allergy requirements.
10. Contribute to the daily running of the room and planning of activities.
11. To read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role and the safe running of the setting.
12. To share any welfare or child protection concerns immediately with the Manager.
13. To ensure that accurate records are kept. For example, accidents and incidents are recorded as outlined in the policies and procedures.
14. To be aware of and share data about the progress of key groups of children and contribute to the planning of activities and delivery of curriculum.
15. To keep up to date with current good practice and attend training as deemed necessary.
16. To perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the Early Years Educator Lead, Early Years Assistant Manager or Manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Essential Criteria
1. A level 3 qualification in a full and relevant early years education and childcare qualification (or equivalent) and a commitment to obtaining further qualifications as appropriate.
2. Current working experience of the childcare and early years sector.
3. A sound understanding of child development and the ability to meet children's needs, considering the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice, safeguarding procedures and equality & diversity considerations.
4. The ability to carry out quality observations in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
5. Ability to positively communicate verbally, this includes the ability to establish rapport and credibility with external agencies, mothers, fathers and guardians and other carers.
6. Ability to communicate in writing by being able to produce clear, accurate and wellwritten reports and correspondence in English,
7. Ability to work effectively as a member of the team.
8. To be aware of the harmful impact on children of discriminatory experiences and ensure that children feel valued and respected as individuals with unique needs.
9. Commitment to young children and families.
10. Friendly, flexible approach.
11. Ability to work as a member of a team and on own initiative.
