Happy Faces Playgroup is an early years setting situated in the heart of Sherfield-on-Loddon. The playgroup is run as a charity with a small voluntary committee. We have a capacity of 26 children per session and currently employ 10 members of staff including an administrator and an apprentice. We aim to provide high quality care and education for pre-school children (from 2 to 5 years old) in a fun, stimulating and caring environment. The staff work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop to their full potential.

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Preschool Manager to work 42 weeks a year (term time only + 3 weeks for planning)

Responsibilities:

To know and understand all Nursery policies and ensure that these policies are implemented at all times.

To be responsible for drawing up curriculum plans and monitor its effectiveness

To be responsible for providing a high quality of education in line with OFSTED requirements

To manage and support staff effectively

To recognise staff training needs and look for courses that fulfil those needs

To assist with recruitment of new team members where needed

To work as part of the team

To use self-initiative

To be responsible for implementing systems of observation and record keeping

Alongside the administrator, liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the setting and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress

To be a health and safety coordinator

To carry out risk assessments

To be a designated safeguarding lead

To use self-initiative

To show professionalism at all times with patience and enthusiasm

Where necessary, be prepared to work with the staff to cover leave/absences

To liaise with the Management Committee, Ofsted services and other professionals as necessary to ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented

Requirements:

Minimum of NVQ level 3 in Early Years Qualification

Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage's welfare, learning and development requirements

Experience in running a preschool/nursery as a manager and/or a deputy

Leadership, including organisation, the ability to motivate others and effective decision-making

Passion for providing excellent high quality early years education.

An ability to manage a team of early years practitioners

Computer literacy, including confidence using Microsoft Office and record-keeping software

An Enhanced DBS check will be completed on the successful candidate prior to employment.

Pay: 14.29 per hour
