An exciting opportunity has arisen at Charters Ancaster Nursery for a Room Leader to join our dedicated team within our Pre-school rooms in our Hygge accredited setting.

We are a big Nursery and are very lucky to be set within some beautifully large grounds, perfect for our Forest School sessions and lots of outdoor play and outside adventures. Our site includes a self-contained chalet building with enclosed garden for 0-2 years, and a characterful Main House with free-flow outdoor spaces for 2-5 years, both buildings overlook the gardens and playing field. Our Hygge (pronounced Hu-gah) approach is about bringing the children joy, wonder and comfort, enabling them to be happy and settled to explore and learn, so we promote this through our comfortable and homely environment.

We would love for an enthusiastic and motivated staff member to join our outstanding team and to promote our approach by encouraging happiness, intrigue and excitement in their activities by following the children's individual sparks and interests. Experience and enjoyment of working with children is therefore essential.

We are ideally looking for someone with experience of being a Room Leader and key person, with excellent knowledge and experience in maintaining and completing learning journeys that support the children's development and learning, as well as supporting and leading practitioners within the room to do the same; a good knowledge of child development from birth to 5 years and the EYFS is therefore essential.

Under the support of our Preschool Unit Leader, the ideal candidate will help to foster a warm and inclusive environment supporting our Hygge-inspired ethos, and will support and lead practitioners in the room to build a collaborative team atmosphere. They will lead the room in creating and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and planning activities sparked by the children's interests and abilities.

As a big team, communication is vital within the setting, and an approachable attitude with the ability to communicate clearly and develop relationships with children, their families, colleagues and outside agencies is essential. We are looking for a capable and confident Room Leader who can work under their own initiative but who is also able to lead and work collaboratively and positively as part of the existing team.

The ideal candidate would have:

An Early Years childcare qualification of Level 3 or above.

Extensive knowledge understanding of the current Early Years Statutory Framework.

Minimum 2 year's experience as a Room Leader

Passion when it comes to making a difference and knowledge and experience of SEND.

Enthusiasm and an ability to provide interesting and challenging activities to reflect individual sparks of children in their care.

Excellent communication skills to lead and motivate staff, but also build positive relationships with our nursery families.

Charters Ancaster is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires staff and volunteers to share this. The successful candidate will need to provide 2 references as well as complete a DBS check as part of our on-going safeguarding practice.

Ideally the role is required to be (40 hours) full time Monday-Friday and Full year (52 weeks)

Our core hours are 9am- 4pm, however some early and late shifts (between 8am-6pm) may be needed to ensure cover across the unit. A part-time/job share maybe considered for the right applicant.

A current paediatric first aid certificate and rolling DBS certificate would be an advantage.
