PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
BBC Local is the family of services we offer across local communities in England, including radio, online, social media and TV. With famous brands and new platforms, we provide a rich mix of content and programming, from news to entertainment.
The presenter/producer of BBC Radio Berkshire's flagship breakfast show will be a talented personality, at the heart of the relationship we have with our local audience. You'll be a passionate broadcaster and a brilliant storyteller, with the ability to inspire and engage the thousands of listeners who tune in every day.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
At BBC Radio Berkshire, we are passionate about delivering great content across all our platforms, and you'll share in that passion! We love being immersed in the communities that we serve across the county.
No two days are ever quite the same in the BBC Local Radio - and we love that!
Early starts can be an interesting challenge(!) but you'll be broadcasting at the best time of day, sending people on their way to school, work or however else they choose to spend their day. It's a huge privilege and lots of fun.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • You'll not only be the voice of the station in the morning but also a crucial part of the team's production machine, curating content of the highest quality, in our digital first approach.
  • As well as nurturing our existing audience, you will be key to attracting new listeners, by reflecting the true diversity in our communities.
  • You will use your natural curiosity to source original stories and contributors to bring local stories to life, telling them across all platforms.
  • You will research, script and present content in an engaging and impartial way, always following the BBC's Editorial Guidelines.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • You'll have significant experience of radio presentation/production, bringing energy and bags of enthusiasm, to deliver innovative and creative content.
  • We are looking for a presenter/producer with specific experience in live, speech-based radio presentation.
  • You will have a willingness to change and adapt; endless curiosity and the demonstrable ability to connect with people quickly.
  • Your delivery style will be inclusive and engaging to deliver strong personality-led and entertaining radio, whilst having the capacity to recognise and quickly adapt to changing tones and situations.
  • Experience of planning and delivering to deadlines will be key.
  • We are looking for real team players as well as outstanding broadcasters - individuals who harness their skills and experience to support, mentor and develop newer members of the team.
If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we'd love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
